LARC (long acting reversible contraception) training
Devon Sexual Health offers training to fit contraceptive implants and coils at our service, accredited by the College for Sexual and Reproductive Health (CoSRH).
The pathway for obtaining a letter of competence (LoC) in subdermal implants/ intrauterine devices is outlined below.
Devon Sexual Health offers the practical element of the training free to Primary Care professionals who work locally in Devon (excluding Plymouth).
The CoSRH charges fees for the associated E-learning and qualification.

Before starting the practical training, professionals must pass the CoSRH Online Theory Assessment (OTA) and Contraception Counselling Course.

EHC and oral contraception update for community pharmacies
Update for Registered Community Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in Devon providing EHC and oral contraception. The in-person training session will cover: Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC), Chlamydia Screening, Progesterone only pill (POP), Combined pill (COC) & Talking With Young People.

IUD fitters forum
This is an in person event at the Exeter Sexual Health clinic and will feature discussions on the new UKMEC guidelines, Inter-PCN referring for LARC fitting and complex coil cases
The forum is designed for current IUD fitters or those planning to restart fitting and will provide valuable CPD required for your CoSRH revalidation. We hope you can join us for this educational event and look forward to an engaging and informative session.

Contraception Training for Local Pharmacists
Devon Sexual Health offers training for pharmacists (including locums) and pharmacy technicians in Devon. The training covers:
• Talking to young people and safeguarding
• Emergency hormonal contraception
• Progesterone-only oral contraception
• Combined oral contraception
Training Format
The course is split into two parts:
Part 1: Online Session
• Open to all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in Devon
Part 2: Face-to-Face Session
• Takes place one week after the online session
• Held at rotating clinic locations: Torbay, Barnstaple, Exeter, and Plymouth
• Includes:
o Clinic tour
o Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)
o Consultation skills including young people and safeguarding
o Discussion of local referral pathways
