Contraceptive implant training support
Training support and funding is available for nurses wishing to obtain the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (CoSRH) Letter of Competence in Subdermal Contraceptive Implants Techniques Insertion and Removal (LoC SDI-IR). This funding is available to all practices in the Devon County Council area, to increase the number of primary care nurses trained and fitting implants across the county.
Criteria
In recognition of the funding support to become an implant fitter, you must:
- Fit implants for a practice in the Devon County Council area
- Aim to complete 20 to 30 procedures a year to maintain a good level of confidence
- Complete training by the end of the financial year 25/26
The CoSRH state that fitters must complete a minimum of six procedures, including at least one insertion and one removal, per year to maintain the LoC
Devon Public Health will fund £1,463 per application to reimburse the costs of:
- Online theory assessment (one attempt), one year Associate Annual Membership (if required) and LoC Registration. A total of £320 payable to CoSRH
- Remaining funding for staff time to complete 2 days practical assessment (training provided free of charge by Organon)
