Oral contraception from pharmacies
Did you know your local pharmacy can help with your oral contraception needs?
Pharmacists can help with:
- starting or restarting oral contraceptionĀ
- your ongoing supply
- emergency contraception (you may need to check that the pharmacist is there before visiting)
You do not need to be registered with a GP to access this service.
Pharmacies will only inform your GP with your consent.
Contraception isĀ free from NHS services.

You may also find it useful to download the NHS app which allows you to order repeat prescriptions.
You can get contraception from:
- sexual health clinics – all types of contraception
- GPs – all types of contraception
- community pharmacies – oral contraception only (progestogen-only pill and combined pill).
