LARC (long acting reversible contraception) training

Pathway for obtaining letter of competence (LoC)

The pathway for obtaining a letter of competence (LoC) in subdermal implants intrauterine devices is outlined below.

Devon Sexual Health offers the practical element of the training free to Primary Care professionals who work locally in Devon (excluding Plymouth, information for professionals in Plymouth can be found here).

The CoSRH charges fees for the associated E-learning and qualification. More information regarding LoCs and the associated fees can be found here (IUDs) and here (implants).

Before starting the practical training, professionals must pass the CoSRH Online Theory Assessment (OTA) and Contraception Counselling Course.

If you are interested in this training, please contact rduh.devonsexualhealthtraining@nhs.net to express interest in training.

The relevant application forms will be sent to you and process outlined.

This training happens throughout the year, please contact us for more information.
