Your contraception prescription

Your contraception prescription

Contraception services are available initially from GPs and sexual health clinics, with your continuing contraception supplies being fulfilled via your local GP or pharmacy.

Once you have had a full assessment of your contraception needs, you will be prescribed a contraception that suits your needs.

You will receive information on the risks and benefits on the use of the contraception provided, as well as how to manage future supplies of your contraception.

Following your first prescription, most contraception pills and injections will be provided from your local GP or pharmacy. Accessing contraception through a pharmacy is quick and can be more convenient than waiting for a sexual health appointment or travelling to one of our clinics.

Don’t worry, if it’s still easier to access sexual health or if you have complex contraception needs, side effects or want to change method contact us directly to arrange an appointment. Either by calling 0300 303 3989 or booking online via your Personal Health Record.
